The lore behind the T-47R power armor adds depth to its origins. Originally designed to withstand radiation and protect against energy damage, the armor found its place in the Boston area vaults, providing residents with the means to explore the wasteland. It also served various companies, handling dangerous radioactive materials and waste.

In a remarkable turn of events, the T-47R power armor played a pivotal role in containing a deadly virus outbreak in Yucatan, Mexico, with modified suits specifically designed to withstand biohazardous materials. This unique modification later became the Mk.IV lining, offering even greater protection against hazardous environments.
